Thanksgiving

Grace and peace be unto you through Jesus Christ our Lord.

“I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers.” Ephesians 1:16.

St. Paul blesses the Lord with thanksgiving for the Ephesian believers, and he prays for them continually. That sounds like a plan. Who should we give thanks for today and this year?

Naturally, with the Thanksgiving festival coming up in a few weeks, we turn our hearts to saying thank you to the Lord Jesus Christ. He taught us the Kingdom, suffered a gruesome passion, died for us, and was risen for us … so that we could have peace and freedom. God the Father created us … and is still creating us. The Holy Spirit gives us the gifts we need to care for others. We have a world of beauty, family, and friends, homes, and food. How much should we be thanking our Lord today as well as on the USA holiday? And who should we give thanks for? Perhaps we think of our parents, grandparents, spouses, friends, children, brothers, sisters … The list goes on, doesn’t it?

As we dine on turkey, potatoes, and green beans, let us also remember the Lord God, and His people, and to serve those less fortunate than ourselves.

Peace, † Pastor Lynn Williamson
